The Arabian-Nubian shield contains a large proportion of the mineral resources in Saudi Arabia. Gold, Phosphate and bauxite are the first minerals to be exploited on a commercial scale. Different forms of copper are found in the Arabian Shield. Saudi Arabia has one of the most modern and developed mining laws in the Middle East and Northern Africa region.
